Nansha Information Technology Park is an Innovation and Technology Park established cooperatively by Henry Fok Foundation, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the Guangzhou municipal government. It is one of the five parks in ZoneⅠof Guangzhou High-Tech Development Zones, also the component of The Guangzhou Software Park which is known as the national "Torch Plan" software base.

  The already-completed architecture of Nansha Information Technology Park covers about 60,000 square meters. There exists 0.43 square kilometers of land, and the Park is planned to occupy 2.5 square kilometers of land. The main objective of the Park is to become an important base of industrialization of innovative science and technology, an training base for high-tech talents, and a technology platform for the industry.

  Up until now, there have been more than 10 enterprises admitted in the Park, with over 300 sci-tech personnel mainly engaged in the research and development on biotechnology, software development, photoelectric technology, network technology, microelectronics packaging, embedded systems, and electronic technology, etc. Although there are not many enterprises in the Park, they have their own characteristics. Of these enterprises, U.S. Huishi Communicative Technology Company, which devotes itself to the development of optical communicative technology, is the key project of Guangzhou. “Institute of Industry Technology, Guangzhou Chinese Academy of Science” is a key institute established cooperatively by Chinese Academy of Sciences and Guangzhou City. Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) R and D Corporation (Guangzhou) Limited is a company established in Nansha by Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. At present, it is busy in promoting such projects as ongoing micro-electronic packaging technology, embedded systems, and radio frequency electronic label technology, etc. The laboratory located in Nansha Information Technology Park by of the United States SIMCO company located by U.S. SIMCO company in Nansha IT Park is the first overseas laboratory of this company which deals with testing of electronic instruments. U.S. Shenda company commit itself to develop cancer detection reagents.

  The recent development of the Park focuses on three aspects:

1、 It is planned to organize 10 times of "Nansha Science and Technology Forum" within two years.

2、The Graduate School of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is planned to be set up.

3、Some mature technological projects are proposed to be invested.

  From the latter half of 2006, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Park will gradually establish nine laboratories and centers, i.e., the Research Center of Digital Life, the Wireless IC System Design Center, the Research Center of Engineering Materials and Reliability, Beijing and HKUST Joint Research Center of Materials, the Research Center of the Marine and Estuarine Environment, the Research Center of Atmosphere, the Population and Social Analysis Center, South China research center, and the Nano-electronics Manufacturing Laboratory. Together with the primary three projects, i.e., the projects of microelectronics packaging, embedded systems and logistics supply chain, there are altogether 12 projects being researched and developed in Nansha Information Technology Park.
